BCM 114 PROJECT BETA

For myself and Ricardo we intended to create a joint Digital Artefact that was both engaging and entertaining. This was a YouTube and Instagram account that we would both run of videos of a “day in the life” type videos. Content that we created of our everyday lives. Mainly the inclusion of ourselves surfing, going to concerts and visiting local coffee shops and attractions around the Wollongong area. Gathering material ideas from various YouTubers and Instagram sensations such as Alex Hayes, Jamie O’Brien and Tyler Hanley.

With roughly 3 weeks passed of the commencement of our DA we have successfully stuck on track with what we pitched to you. This being a joint YouTube and Instagram of a “day in the life”. Although we have stuck on track with our project pitch we have found many difficulties and hick ups along the way so far. Things that have not only hindered our uploading amounts but also come in beneficially with feedback and learning curves. With our idea we mostly require a decently sunny days and warm temperatures as our content is predominately outside in the water. As it is still Spring we have been unfortunate with how the weather has affected filming opportunities with it either being rainy or the swell at the beach being too small. We also had difficulties in the editing software that we used, Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects. They would struggle to open up when we needed it to or would crash often which mean’t progress was slow and frustration was high!. We have although figured out the issue through thorough YouTubing tutorials of “how to fix a crashing Premiere Pro”. With feedback from viewers we showed once uploading our YouTube video we gathered valuable knowledge that between videos we could use better transitioning and fading out and potentially splitting the video we created into two parts. As Ricardo edited the surfing edit and I edited the Hayden James edit it could have worked better as two differing videos.

We are both happy with how our project is coming along and are releasing our next video soon! Editing underway…
